I'm not much of a lubricant snob, and don't have to have the latest and greatest thing on the market. I've used Break-Free for a long time now and it has always done a great job, so I have kept using it. I never had an opportunity to really appreciate it until tonight though.
I was loading one of my pistol magazines at a match Saturday and the rounds didn't want to go in. I backed out the rounds that were in the pistol and they were covered with water and mud. Apparently, while doing a reload, I had dumped the mag in a mud puddle and didn't realize it.
I threw the mag in my range bag and forgot about it until tonight. I took the magazine apart to scrape the rust out and was amazed to find that there was none. I have always cleaned my mags the same way: Break-Free CLP on a toothbrush, clean the mag inside and out, then pull a rag through it to get as much of the Break-Free CLP out as I can. Break-Free CLP on a patch to lube the mag spring, and then wipe it off. I just want the Break-Free for rust protection in the magazines (I use dry Teflon spray for actual lubrication), and apparently it works like a charm. That mag was wet inside for 3 days with a very, very thin coat of Break-Free on it, and there was no trace of rust on anything.
I don't usually write thank you letters to companies, but you guys deserve one so here it is. Thanks for making a good product. I think I'll stick with it.
